"I am delighted to see the example that Media Technology and Publishing Center is setting in actively pursuing green printing through attaining Forest Stewardship CouncilTM (FSCTM) Chain of Custody certification. Such initiatives at the Departmental and Center level are highly important for the HKUST 2020 Sustainability Challenge and to bring a living eco-friendly campus into being. They provide a practical demonstration of how HKUST as a community is committed to cutting down waste and protecting natural resources. They impact on others by raising awareness of the need for everyone to participate.
I hope everyone will make use of this great new opportunity and request sustainable materials for all their print jobs with MTPC."

“Chain of Custody certification from the Forest Stewardship CouncilTM (FSCTM) can increase confidence in our in-house printing services and further enhance HKUST’s image as a leader in sustainability. I look forward to all University users making use of Media Technology and Publishing Center’s FSCTM printing opportunities. In doing so, they will not only contribute to sustainability on campus but also have a positive impact on the global environment”

“I often say that if there is only one thing you do to make this world a better place, it is to make sure every paper product you buy is FSCTM certified. Not only does certification ensure that rain forests are maintained in a responsible way, but that the businesses involved have a greater incentive to take care of our precious resources. MTPC now makes it even easier for all of us to support these activities by certifying that all their printing and publishing activities meet the high standards of the FSCTM process. It is inspiring to see their leadership on this issue of critical importance.”

"FSCTM printing is widely used in the commercial sectors. In making FSCTM printing available at HKUST, the Media Technology and Publishing Center is seeking to extend its reach to digital printing of course materials, research papers, reports and University promotional literature. We hope to be a role model for the education sector, showcasing how FSCTM printing can be implemented in a campus environment.
FSCTM printing is one of the many green initiatives adopted by the MTPC. Others include using 100% recycled paper, on-demand printing to reduce waste and carbon neutral printing. We will continue to introduce best practice in sustainable printing to serve the HKUST community."
